PM call with Dutch PM Mark Rutte: 16 February 2016

Prime Minister David Cameron called Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte today to discuss the UK’s EU renegotiation and migration.

This was published under the 2015 to 2016 Cameron Conservative government

A Downing St spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister called the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte this afternoon.

They discussed the UK’s EU renegotiation, agreeing there was a good basis for a deal at this week’s European Council, although important detail remained to be settled.

They also discussed migration, agreeing it was more important than ever for the international community to work together to find effective ways to support refugees in the region, and discouraging them from making the perilous journey to Europe. They agreed that this week’s agreement on a NATO monitoring and surveillance operation in the Aegean could be a positive means of lending further support to Turkey and Greece to help achieve that.
