A Downing St spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister called President Hollande on Friday afternoon to offer her heartfelt condolences to the people of France on Thursday’s horrifying attack. The PM said our thoughts and prayers were with all those who had lost loved ones and the many more injured.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the UK stood full-square with France in the fight against terror and would provide any assistance we could, including British police to provide additional investigatory support.

President Hollande thanked the Prime Minister for her call, and for the UK’s constant friendship. He said initial indications were that a small number of British nationals had been injured in the attack but that this could yet change.

They agreed to keep in close touch.
