PM call with the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones: 7 July 2016

David Cameron spoke with the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones about the ongoing efforts to support the steel industry in Wales and Euro 2016.

Following the phone call, a Downing Street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister spoke to the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, this morning.

They discussed ongoing efforts to support the steel industry in Wales, agreeing that offers of support from the UK and Welsh governments remain on the table. They agreed on the importance of both governments continuing to work very closely in partnership to support the steel industry in Wales and across the whole of the UK.

The Prime Minister also raised the success of the Welsh football team in Euro 2016. The Prime Minister told the First Minister that he had watched most of the match last night and thought that the Welsh team had done brilliantly throughout the tournament. The First Minister said he would pass on the Prime Minister’s congratulations to the team and agreed that it had been a great tournament for Wales.
