The Prime Minister met with Chancellor Merkel this evening in the margins of the Matthiae-Mahlzeit dinner in Hamburg.

They discussed the UK’s EU renegotiation, agreeing good progress had been made and that all member states and the EU institutions should continue to work closely together for an agreement at next week’s European Council.

They also discussed migration and follow-up to the Syria donors conference in London last week. They agreed on the importance of swift implementation of the commitments made at the conference, including support to Syria’s neighbouring countries to create job opportunities for host communities and Syrian refugees.
