PM meeting with Croatian Prime Minister: 1 October 2015
David Cameron welcomed Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic to 10 Downing Street for talks.
A Downing Street spokesperson said:
The Prime Minister met with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, at Downing Street this afternoon.
Their discussions focused on 3 issues: the UK renegotiation; the migration crisis and the bilateral relationship.
On the renegotiation, the Prime Minister set out the reforms we are seeking and why. He emphasised the importance of securing these reforms to address the concerns of the British people about the EU. Prime Minister Milanovic said that he recognised why we were seeking these reforms and he underlined that Croatia wanted the United Kingdom to remain a member of the EU.
On migration, Prime Minister Milanovic welcomed all the assistance that the UK has provided for refugees in Syria and neighbouring countries. Both leaders agreed on the need to focus on the root causes of the vast migration flows to Europe and to take more action upstream.
Finally, they agreed that both countries could do more to strengthen the bilateral relationship - boosting trade and investment, and closer defence co-operation.
