PM phone call with Italian Prime Minister: 8 February 2016
David Cameron briefly spoke to the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, this afternoon on the Supporting Syria conference and EU reform.
Following the meeting a Downing Street spokesperson said:
The Prime Minister briefly spoke to the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, this afternoon. They discussed the Supporting Syria conference and EU reform. On the Supporting Syria conference, the Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Renzi for Italy’s pledging contribution.
Discussing the UK’s renegotiation of the EU, they agreed that the text put forward by the European Council President was a good basis for reaching agreement in all 4 areas at the February European Council. Prime Minister Renzi reiterated his support for the UK’s reform agenda and both leaders looked forward to meeting at next week’s Council.
