Prime Minister David Cameron issued a statement in response to the Libyan political agreement signed in Morocco today.

This was published under the 2015 to 2016 Cameron Conservative government

The Prime Minister issued a statement in response to the Libyan political agreement signed in Morocco earlier today.

He said:

Today’s outcome is an important step forward, paving the way for a new unified national government in Libya.

The UK is firmly committed to securing a stable and prosperous future for Libya. We’ve led international efforts in support of the UN talks resulting in today’s agreement.

Importantly, this agreement means the international community can now engage with one unified, representative government in Libya in the fight against Daesh and the migrant traffickers.

I look forward to working closely with Prime Minister Serraj as the new government works to bring peace and stability to all Libyans.
