Polish scientists in Satellite Applications Catapult
A delegation of six Polish specialists from the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Centre for Space Study (CBK PAN), took part in a SIN-organized study trip to the Satellite Applications Catapult in Harwell.
Polish delegation, among others, included the director of the Centre - Prof Marek Banaszkiewicz and SIN officer from the British Embassy in Warsaw - Dr Maria Pawlowska. During the visit the Polish participants presented their work to the Catapult and discussed the Catapult’s projects.
Talks held prior to the study trip and used to identify common interests and areas of potential collaboration meant that the presentations were focused on pre-agreed topics with an emphasis on commercialization and joint application for H2020 funds. Consequently, the trip enabled concrete discussions on future endeavours with a focus on the business-angle and applications.
On the second day the Polish group visited the Surrey Satellites Headquarters (leaders in small and medium satellite development in the UK), where they discussed the Polish space economy.
Finally, before heading off to the airport the team visited the Surrey University Space Centre to talk to the scientists and innovators based there.
