Press briefing: morning 22 May 2015

The Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson answered questions about sugar tax, Ofcom and Intelligence and Security Committee appointments.

Sugar tax

When asked if the Prime Minister had any plans for a sugar tax, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Prime Minister’s position had not changed and there were no plans for a tax.

Ofcom

When asked about any plans to give additional powers to Ofcom to deal with extremist content as part of the Extremism Bill, the PMOS said we’ve said we want to have a look at this area in terms of Ofcom’s responsibilities and that’s what we’re going to do.

Intelligence and Security Committee

When asked about appointments to the Intelligence and Security Committee, the PMOS said these would be made according to the provisions in the Justice and Security Act 2013.
