Press release

Press briefing: afternoon 10 December 2013

The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Nelson Mandela's memorial and Universal Credit.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Nelson Mandela memorial

Asked about the Prime Minister’s (PM’s) attendance at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service, the PMS said no formal discussions had taken place, but the PM had met with several leaders and former leaders at the service.

Universal Credit

Asked about the roll out of Universal Credit and criticism from the National Audit Office (NAO), the PMS said that it was always important to look at reports from the NAO. A gradual roll out of Universal Credit was at the heart of its implementation, to ensure the findings from pilots were taken on board.
