Northern Ireland
When asked about the political situation in Northern Ireland, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Prime Minister was gravely concerned about the situation, adding he wanted to see all politicians in Northern Ireland working together to build a better future for the country and working to fulfil its great potential. The PMOS said the Prime Minister had been encouraging talks between the parties so they could work through the issues. To this end, and in response to different people calling for different things, the PMOS said the Prime Minister’s calls with the Secretary of State and the First Minister would be an opportunity to consider what steps should be taken next.
