Syria

When asked about the precision airstrike in Syria the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said it was usual when writing to inform the UN that the government noted the legal basis, adding the Prime Minister was clear this was a matter of national security and self-defence.

Leader of the opposition

When asked about the leader of the opposition’s invitation to join the Privy Council, the PMOS said that she understood from press reports that the leader of the opposition had accepted, noting that the government had not received formal confirmation of this. On the issue of the National Security Council the PMOS said the leader of the opposition would continue to be briefed on issues of national security, as in the past.
