Press release

Press briefing: afternoon 19 November 2013

The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Gibraltar, Nick Boles and the Defence Reform Bill.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Gibraltar

Asked whether the Prime Minister had received a briefing on the situation in Gibraltar and whether he intended to call the Spanish Prime Minister, the PMS said he was not aware of any plans for the PM to call his Spanish counterpart. The integrity of the UK’s territorial waters was a very important issue. We would continue to make that very clear to the Spanish government.

Nick Boles

Asked whether the PM had full confidence in Nick Boles, the PMS said he did.

Defence Reform Bill

Asked about Philip Hammond’s comments about the Defence Reform Bill causing “serious damage”, the PMS said the PM agreed with what had been set out by the Defence Secretary.
