The Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson answered questions on Afghanistan, immigration and the UK contribution to the EU budget.

Afghanistan

When asked about Afghanistan, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said lessons had been learned throughout the operation, including how the armed forces trained Afghan forces. These lessons have informed the approach taken in tackling ISIL in Iraq, the PMOS added.

Immigration

When asked about immigration, the PMOS said the government’s focus was to look at the pull factors which affect immigration, and how they might be addressed. The PMOS noted the government’s reforms to benefits. As a result of measures being taken, non-EU migration is close to its lowest level since 1998.

UK contribution to the EU budget

When asked about the UK contribution to the EU budget, the PMOS said every opportunity was being taken to raise this important issue.
