Press release

Press briefing: afternoon 31 March 2014

The Prime Minister’s Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on foreign local election results, the England football shirt and arrests.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Local election results

When asked whether the Prime Minister had had a chance to congratulate Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on local election results the PMS responded that the Turkish election was a local election and it was not usual precedent to congratulate national leaders except following victories in national elections. When subsequently asked whether the Prime Minister had spoken to French President Francois Hollande or anyone else in France regarding the local elections there the PMS gave the same reply.

England football shirt

Asked whether the Prime Minister felt that football supporters were being “ripped-off” in paying £90 for an England shirt the PMS said that this was a matter for the FA and the retailers.

Arrests

In response to a question on whether anyone had been arrested at No.10 over the weekend the PMS responded that to his knowledge no-one had been arrested.
