Press briefing: afternoon 4 December 2014

The Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson answered questions about the Autumn Statement, BBC licence fee review and the death of Jeremy Thorpe.

Autumn Statement

When asked about the spending cuts mentioned in the Autumn Statement, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Chancellor had been quite clear that there are going to have to be further difficult decisions and that this government already had a track record of taking those decisions and implementing them.

BBC licence fee review

When asked what the current plans are for the BBC licence fee review, the PMOS said that it would be part of the Charter Review and that there was a separate consultation in terms of penalties for the avoidance of paying the licence fee.

Jeremy Thorpe

When asked about the death of Jeremy Thorpe, the PMOS said the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to Mr Thorpe’s friends and family.
