Maria Miller

Asked about the Culture Secretary’s personal statement to the House regarding her expenses, the PMS said the Culture Secretary was accepting the Parliamentary Standards Committee report in full. She would also apologise to the House in her personal statement. The PM had spoken to her about the matter and supported her.

Waitrose

Asked about the PM’s comments regarding Waitrose, the PMS said the PM was recounting his experience of shopping in various supermarkets.

Plain packaging

Asked about the government’s stance on plain packaging, the PMS said there would be a statement in the House later that morning. Sir Cyril Chantler had compiled his report on the matter and had submitted it in the past few days.

Immigration

Asked for the PM’s approach to immigration levels, the PMS said the PM wanted to see net migration fall to under 100,000.
