Press briefing: morning 4 March

The Prime Minister's Spokesperson (PMS) answered questions on Ukraine, an EU referendum Bill, legislation on recalling MPs and Patrick Rock.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Ukraine

Asked about the situation in Ukraine, the PMS said the Foreign Secretary would provide the latest information in a statement to the House later that afternoon. It was important the government supported the Ukrainian people and their aspirations, and worked toward de-escalation and dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.

EU referendum

Asked about the government’s support for an EU Referendum Bill, the PMS said it was no secret the Conservative side of the Coalition government wanted to see an EU Referendum Bill.

MP recall

Asked about the government’s support for MP recall legislation, the PMS said the PM had made his commitment to recall clear.

Patrick Rock

Asked about the arrest of Patrick Rock, the PMS said when Number 10 were aware of potential offences they contacted the National Crime Agency immediately. Mr Rock resigned and was arrested. There was an ongoing police investigation.
