Prime Minister meeting with Donald Tusk

David Cameron met with the President of the European Council to discuss the UK's relationship with the EU.

Following this morning’s meeting between the Prime Minister and Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, a Number 10 spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister met with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, this morning to discuss the renegotiation of the UK’s relationship with the EU.

They welcomed the progress in the ongoing technical talks that are focused on the 4 areas the UK is seeking reform - competitiveness; sovereignty; economic governance and access to social security.

They discussed the process moving forward, agreeing that the October European Council would be the next staging post before further discussions with member states ahead of the December European Council.
