Proceeds of Crime Symposium at Barbados Supreme Court
With support from the UK-funded Caribbean Criminal Asset Recovery Programme (CCARP), judges from all around the Caribbean are attending a Symposium designed to raise awareness of how confiscation and asset recovery can work in the region and how domestic legislation can be applied in practice.

Members of the judiciary from Barbados will be joined by colleagues from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Guyana and Belize.
The Hon Adriel Brathwaite MP, Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony on Tuesday 19 November. Also speaking will be HE Victoria Dean, British High Commissioner.
The sessions will be led by His Honour Judge Hopmeier, who takes the lead for proceeds of crime and asset recovery training for the Judicial College of England and Wales. Judge Hopmeier has wide experience in this field and regularly gives presentations around the world.
The Judicial Symposium follows on from a workshop held at the DPP’s office for Magistrates, DPPs and Crown Counsel from Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Barbados, Belize, BVI, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent & the Grenadines.
