Public health reform updates published
Government publishes new information about the new public health system.
More details of the design of the new public health system, specifically the role and responsibilities of local government in public health, the operating model for the new executive agency Public Health England and an overview of how the whole system will work, have now been published.
A range of factsheets that cover specific public health system topics and aims to further inform stakeholders and staff involved in the new public health system so that the reforms can be implemented effectively. The factsheets follow the public health white paper ‘Healthy Lives, Healthy People’ and the policy update ‘Healthy Lives, Healthy People: Update and way forward’.
Professor Dame Sally C Davies, Chief Medical Officer, has written to those responsible for the management of health services to explain about Goverment publication on overview of the new public health system and gaining access to materials to support implementation of these reforms. The letter encourages information to be made available to all those working within the health service by distribution through relevant networks.
Further operational information on the new system will be published in the new year.
The statements in the documents are subject to the successful passage of the Health and Social Care Bill through Parliament and reflect the current intentions of the Department of Health.
