Remembrance Sunday 2015 in Uganda
On 8 November, the British High Commissioner, HE Alison Blackburne, and the High Commission’s Defence Section organised a moving ceremony of remembrance at the Commonwealth War Graves site in Jinja.
The service was followed by a Remembrance Sunday lunch hosted by the High Commissioner.
The service was presided over by the Very Reverend Michael Mukhwana, of All Saint Cathedral in Kampala. It was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps and other guests from the Ugandan, British and International communities.
This year’s ceremony had a special significance, as one hundred years ago, the First World War was being fought around the world, including in East Africa.
