Ofqual announces intention to withdraw redundant regulations for certificates in adult literacy and numeracy

Today (Monday 5 December), we are announcing our intention to withdraw our Criteria for Adult Literacy and Numeracy Qualifications.

The criteria were first published by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in 2004, and set out rules and regulations for Certificates in Adult Literacy and Certificates in Adult Numeracy.

These qualifications have been replaced by Functional Skills qualifications. The last of them were withdrawn in August 2016.

As a result, the criteria are now redundant, and we intend to formally withdraw them on 20 January 2017.
