Response to the Victims' Commissioner's Review of Complaints and Resolution for Victims of Crime
This is the government's response to the Victims' Commissioner's Review of Complaints and Resolution for Victims of Crime.
The government is committed to ensuring that victims of crime have access to high quality support to help them to cope with and recover from the impacts of crime, and to ensure that victims and witnesses are well supported and informed throughout their time in the criminal justice system.
We committed in the updated Criminal Justice System Strategy and Action Plan, published in July 2014, to support the Victims’ Commissioner to recommend minimum standards that victims can expect whenever they complain to a criminal justice agency by December 2014; and to respond to her recommendations by February 2015.
The Victims’ Commissioner completed her Review into Complaints and Resolution for Victims of Crime in December 2014 and published it on 27 January 2015.
The government accepts or supports all of the Victims’ Commissioner’s recommendations, which will make a real difference to victims of crime.
