Resurfacing starts on the M2 and A2 near Faversham and Canterbury
Resurfacing starts on Wednesday (16 July) to improve journeys on the M2 near Faversham and the A2 near Canterbury.
Five miles of the carriageway will be resurfaced to improve journeys and are part of the biggest programme of road enhancements since the 1970s. The work will involve overnight carriageway closures, one at a time, and is due to be completed, weather permitting, in the morning of Thursday 31 July.
Highways Agency Project Sponsor Anita Waterton said:
Sections of the carriageway will be resurfaced to provide drivers with safe, reliable and quieter journeys. We will carry out the work in two phases and overnight, when we know traffic flows are lowest, to minimise disruption.
The work will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am.
The coastbound M2 will be closed between junctions 6 and 7 for four nights from Wednesday 16 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A251 and A2.
The Londonbound A2 will be closed between Wincheap and Brenley Corner for three nights from Monday 28 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A28 and A251.
