Resurfacing work on A66 between Preston Farm and Elton

The A66 Westbound between will be closed with a contraflow in operation between Boathouse Lane and the Longnewton junction overbridge for essential carriageway resurfacing starting 29 September and continuing for around 4 weeks.

Diversions will be clearly signposted and are as follows.

Traffic from A66 Longnewton junction north will be diverted south on Mill Lane to the A67 Durham Tees Valley Airport Roundabout and then east on the A67 to Eaglescliffe, north onto the A135 Yarm Road at The Cleveland Bay Public House and then north on the A135 Yarm Road to Preston Farm Industrial Estate and east on the A135 and follow the road east and north to the A66 Boathouse Lane Junction.

Traffic from A66 Longnewton junction south will be diverted south on Mill Lane to the A67 Durham Tees Valley Airport Roundabout, east on the A67 to Eaglescliffe and then north onto Durham Lane to A66 Elton Junction.

Traffic from A66 Boathouse Lane Junction will be diverted via A135 south, west and then north to A66 A135 Yarm Road Junction.

Shaun Cullumbine, Highways Agency project manager, said:

This resurfacing work has been planned overnight to minimise disruption and to take place when traffic flows are at their lowest. Drivers are asked to plan their journeys and to follow the signed diversions.
