Robin Simcox's interim term as commissioner extended
The Home Office has agreed a further short extension to the term of appointment for the current Interim Commissioner for Countering Extremism, Robin Simcox.
Robin was appointed as the Commissioner on 26 April 2021 for a 6-month period. In October 2021, it was agreed that Robin’s terms would be extended by a further 6 months to build upon the work of the Commission, which included providing advice on the future structure and function of the commission.
The Home Office has now agreed to extend the terms for a further 3 months to ensure business continuity, while a campaign to appoint a substantive commissioner is underway.
