Royal Institute of British Architects leads trade mission to China
From 24 to 28 June, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is helping ten architecture practices to export their talents to China.
British Ambassador to China, Sebastian Wood made an opening speech for RIBA's trade mission.
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is leading the week-long trade mission with the support of UK Trade and Investment. The practices will meet a range of developers, city planners, government officials, design institutes, architectural associations and other potential partners.
The UK is an international centre of architectural expertise, offering an unparalleled depth and diversity of experience that is in demand worldwide. It is also one of the world’s leading centres of architectural creativity and innovation. RIBA Architects are recognised worldwide for their expertise in low carbon sustainable design, master planning, urban design and specialised design skills for buildings of all types.
The trade mission will visit Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing. The RIBA is delighted to showcase the architects involved in this trade mission, who are at the cutting edge of the profession internationally.
The architects will also highlight exciting and innovative projects and design approaches - in the UK and internationally; and show how they are relevant to sustainable development in China. Such new ways of thinking are critical to enhance the planning of cities, ensure sustainable development and improve the quality of all society.
RIBA President Angela Brady will lead the mission, with architecture practices including: Asif Khan, Brock Carmichael Architects, CADI, CZWG Architects, Guarnieri Architects, Martha Schwartz Partners, MLA+, Spark Architects, Priestman Architects and Tangram Europe.
This trade mission builds on RIBA’s on-going work in China including last year’s trade mission to Shenzhen, as well as the RIBA’s Shop Windows project in Shanghai.
