Royal Visit to the Cayman Islands
Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited the Cayman Islands on 6th and 7th March 2016.
The Royal visit began with a welcome by Her Excellency the Governor and the Premier in Grand Cayman, followed by a private event at the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) on Little Cayman. The Earl has been the patron of CCMI since he visited the Cayman Islands in 2003.
His Royal Highness and The Countess attended separate luncheons on Monday on Grand Cayman. The Earl joined Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme participants at Government House, while the Countess addressed 100 Women in Hedge Funds at the National Gallery. Her Royal Highness then rejoined her husband at Government House for the presentation of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award to Lashonda Powell before leaving for the UK later that afternoon.
HRH Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, is the fourth child and youngest son of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He has been married to Sophie, Countess of Wessex, since 1999. They have two children, a daughter Louise and a son James.
