RSH publishes regulatory notice for Babergh District Council
The Regulator of Social Housing concluded that the local authority had breached its consumer standards
In a regulatory notice published today (Monday 30 January 2023), the Regulator of Social Housing has concluded that Babergh District Council breached the Home Standard and, as a result, there was potential for serious detriment to tenants.
Following a self-referral, RSH found that the council failed to meet health and safety requirements for gas, electrical and asbestos safety. The council is working to rectify these issues and return to compliance with the regulator’s standards.
Kate Dodsworth, RSH’s Director of Consumer Regulation, said:
In its self-referral to us, Babergh District Council recognised that it failed to meet health and safety requirements.
We are monitoring the council closely as it addresses these issues and puts things right for tenants.
