Sajid Javid leads UK gaming and creativity trade mission to Korea

UK gaming companies to promote their products and services at G-Star in South Korea.

19 British gaming developers and publishers will take part in the mission to South Korea from 19th – 22nd November. The mission will include attendance at G-Star 2014, one of the largest games industry events in Asia-Pacific.

The mission to Korea for has been organised by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) South Korea, in association with:

The UK delegation will be led by Sajid Javid MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Minister for Equalities. He will be attending as part of a wider Korean visit programme. This includes a Creativity Industries Forum in Seoul and a range of governmental and commercial meetings.

G-Star

UKTI have supported UK companies in visiting GSTAR regularly over the past 8 years. Over 500 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors are predicted to attend G-Star 2014.

It’s fast becoming a must attend event for UK gaming firms hoping to conduct business in Asia. 90% of attendees on the 2013 G-Star mission reported they found new business from the event.

Happy Hour: Come meet us

The UK pavilion will be the focal point of UKTI’s activities at G-Star. There will be a daily Happy Hour, from 4 to 5.30 pm on the 20th and 21st November.

Other activities will include informal presentations from:

  • Korean publishers
  • Tony Hughes, UKTI’s innovation specialist
  • Pru Ashby, Head of Technology for London & Partners

The UK’s ‘Creativity is GREAT’ pavilion is located at P21.

Creativity is GREAT campaign in Korea

This year’s event follows a successful ‘Creativity is GREAT’ campaign by the British Embassy in Seoul. The campaign has included:

  • a Korean delegation visiting Gamescom in Germany
  • a ‘Gaming is GREAT’ UKTI webinar for UK and Korean firms
  • media and press coverage of the UK’s creativity
  • start-up support
