Science supporting trust in food: conference programme announced

The programme of speakers at the 2016 Government Chemist Conference is announced

Government Chemist 2016 conference

The conference will be opened by the Government Chemist, Dr Derek Craston, followed by a keynote presentation from Professor Sir Mark Walport, Government Chief Scientific Adviser, on the recently published report ‘Forensic Science and beyond: authenticity, provenance and assurance’.

The conference will include presentations on:

  • the Food Authenticity Network
  • the role of the UK customs laboratory in combating food and consumer goods fraud
  • referee case outcomes
  • DNA sequencing for food authentication
  • allergen detection and management
  • the National Food Crime Unit
