Scotland’s economy and workers are reaping the success of the UK’s efforts to attract foreign investment, the Scottish Secretary said today.

The latest figures from UKTI show Scotland attracted 119 new projects, either creating or supporting almost 5,500 new jobs.

The UK’s strong economic performance during 2014 has seen the country’s inward FDI stock – the value of accumulated foreign direct investment in the UK – break the £1 trillion barrier for the first time.

Investment into the UK came from more than 70 countries, including the world’s leading emerging markets.

Scottish Secretary David Mundell said: “Scotland’s economy continues to thrive as part of the UK. The latest figures show how investors agree this Government’s long-term economic plan is working, providing stability and confidence for investment and creating Scottish jobs.”
