Secretary of State for Wales attends Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games
Stephen Crabb MP will meet members of Team Wales
The Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb MP is today (23 July) meeting with athletes from Team Wales to wish them luck ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
Speaking ahead of his visit today he said:
Wales is a proud sporting nation and the sheer number of Welsh athletes competing in these Games demonstrates this strength and passion.
The Commonwealth Games is the only multi-sport event where Wales competes as a nation in its own right and so it holds particular importance for Welsh people. It’s a unique and inspirational opportunity for Wales to compete under its own flag at an elite level.
The whole nation is getting behind Team Wales as the Commonwealth Games prepares to open. I wish them every success in the coming days.
