Caroline Spelman MP attended the first regional Cabinet in Bradford on Tuesday 29th July. Afterwards she visited Yorkshire Water’s Esholt Waste Water Treatment works.
She was briefed on water resources and drought resilience by Chief Executive Richard Flint before touring part of the plant which treats waste from 300,000 homes in Bradford and North Leeds.
The company has invested £75 million in innovative technologies including renewable energy from anaerobic digestion and sludge phyto-composing - a process that involves growing grass on sewage sludge and green waste to produce a low odour material.
