Sellafield awards £95m industrial services framework

KAEFER UK & Ireland has clinched a four year framework to provide critical services to the Sellafield site.

The company will supply access systems plus asbestos and insulation support under the Access Services and Insulation framework.

The framework ensures Sellafield can draw on a qualified and experienced workforce to support asset care, maintenance, and minor projects across the site. It replaces the Sellafield Industrial Services Framework.

KAEFER will deliver a range of social value commitments in west Cumbria during the lifetime of the framework.

This includes providing £40,000 of educational equipment for students with special educational needs and construction skills training to attract new recruits to the industry and close the local skills gap.

Neil Crewdson, Sellafield Ltd’s site director said:

Congratulations to KAEFER UK & Ireland on being awarded this framework.

This work is critical to the safe and secure operation of the Sellafield site.

The company will continue to be a trusted partner helping us to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.

Chris Foulkes, KAEFER UK & Ireland’s chief executive officer, said:

We’re honoured to be awarded this critical contract and to support Sellafield Ltd in its vital work.

Our team is committed to delivering high-quality services to help maintain safety standards and support the decommissioning programme.

This award is a continuation of the long-term relationship KAEFER has with Sellafield Ltd.

The access services element of the framework includes design, manufacture, installation, and deployment of access systems including scaffolding, powered access systems, roped access, rigging, cranes, and any other systems to provide access to Sellafield facilities.

Services provided under the asbestos and insulation element include removal and replacement of thermal insulation including asbestos containing materials and lagging.
