Six Costa Ricans to study in the UK with a Chevening scholarship

They will join a group of more than 1,500 scholars selected for the Chevening programme globally.

On 21 August, Ambassador Ben Lyster-Binns hosted an event for the new Costa Rican Chevening scholars, celebrating their achievement and wishing them every success in their year ahead as Master’s students in the United Kingdom.

The 2024 to 2025 cohort will be pursuing studies in a diverse range of fields, among them Global Crime, Justice and Security; Environment and Sustainable Development; Human Rights and Politics; and International Trade. Their studies will undoubtedly equip them with the skills and experience to help shape their professional paths on their return to Costa Rica.

“Studying a Master’s with a Chevening scholarship is so much more than just obtaining a degree – it’s about broadening your perspectives and developing a more global outlook, with a view to inspiring impactful change in your home country,” reminded Ben Lyster-Binns, British Ambassador to Costa Rica.

“The knowledge you acquire and the connections you forge during your time in the UK will serve you throughout your lifetime,” he added.

The Chevening scholarship programme is open to professionals in any field who wish to use their skills to generate a significant and enduring impact in their home countries. The application period for the programme is currently open and will close on 5 November.
