Sky dims as moon eclipses the sun

Dounreay one of the best places on the mainland to see the solar eclipse.

Dounreay

Britain’s most northerly nuclear site was among the best places on the UK mainland to witness today’s solar eclipse when an estimated 97 per cent of the sun was obscured momentarily by the orbit of the moon

The sky above Dounreay dimmed considerably and a break in the cloud cover allowed observers, using pinhole cameras or special glasses to protect their eyesight, witness the eclipse peak at approximately 0940hrs.
