Press release

Slip road closures for bridge repairs on M54 near Telford

Work to repair the damaged edge of a motorway bridge will be carried out at junction 4 of the M54 near Telford, Shropshire from Monday 13 October.

The work to repair the bridge, damaged following a traffic impact, will begin on the evening of 13 October and will last for four nights. The eastbound entry slip road at junction 4 of the M54 and lane one of the eastbound carriageway will be closed during the work, which will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, finishing on the morning of 17 October. There will also be a traffic light-controlled closure on the local road below the bridge.

Traffic wishing to enter the M54 eastbound at junction 4 from the A464 or Castle Farm Way will be diverted to junction 5 of the M54 to continue eastbound.

Highways Agency project sponsor Wayne Norris said:

This work has to be carried out to repair the damaged bridge and improve safety for road users.

Due to the nature of the work there will be some disruption to road users and we advise people to allow a little extra time for their journeys.
