Smoother journey for drivers on the A19 in North Yorkshire
Drivers in Thirsk will benefit from safer, smoother journeys as the Highways Agency resurfaces the A19 between York Road Interchange and South Kilvington Interchange.
Work will begin on Sunday 22 June and be completed by Saturday 5 July. The work will be carried out on the northbound carriageway and will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am on Sunday to Friday evenings.
Highways Agency Project Manager Kyle Maylard said:
We will be working overnight when traffic flows are lower to minimise any disruption to drivers. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place during the day as drivers will be using a temporary road surface.
During the work the northbound carriageway will be closed and traffic will follow a clearly signed diversion route. Northbound traffic will exit the A19 at the A168/A19 York Road Interchange then use the A170 and A61 to rejoin the A19 via the A19/A61 South Kilvington northbound entry slip road.
