Governor Colin Roberts had the pleasure of delivering a very special gift to a Falkland Islands couple this week.

Roddy and Lily Napier were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary when Governor Roberts arrived at their home with a card from Her Majesty The Queen congratulating them on their special day.

Mr and Mrs Napier were married in Stanley on June 2, 1954 and have one daughter, Sheila. They spent most of their married life on West Point Island where they ran a successful tourism business for more than three decades, serving their legendary afternoon teas to hundreds of visiting cruise ship passengers each year.

In addition to their card from The Queen, Mr and Mrs Napier were delighted to receive a basket of fresh vegetables from the Government House gardens. They celebrated their 60 years together with a party for family and friends later in the evening.
