Specialists from the UK Design Council deliver workshops in Chile
Ellie Runcie and Jonathan Ball from the UK Design Council delivered a series of workshops focused on the design of public services.
Two specialists from the UK Design Council, Ellie Runcie and Jonathan Ball, facilitated various workshops for Chilean actors in the public, private and academic sectors. The workshops were held in August as part of the British Embassy’s “Public Service Design Lab”, a Prosperity Fund project led by the Universidad Católica. The goal of the project is to transform the paradigm of public service design in Chile using a multidisciplinary and user-centered approach based on user experiences. The Design Council visit allowed Chilean stakeholders to learn about the best practices and interdisciplinary methodologies that were used to improve the quality of public services in the United Kingdom.
Highlights from the week of Design Council activities included an interactive session for various Chilean businesses entitled “Growth by design: how companies can take advantage and boost their business incorporating design tools” and a workshop for public sector managers co-hosted by the Innovation Division of the Ministry of Economy that focused on “Outlining the key design principles supporting public policy and service improvement/innovation”.
The week long programme concluded with a half-day working session with the Ministry of Economy and related institutions that will be pivotal to the new Chilean Gov Lab initiative that coincides with the efforts of this project.
