British Embassy closely follows latest developments in Macedonia
In relation to developments connected to pressing charges against the leader of the opposition in Macedonia, the British Embassy issued the following statement:
The United Kingdom notes with concern the charges brought against Zoran Zaev, Leader of the Opposition, and three others. These charges are extremely serious, and the United Kingdom is following developments closely. It is essential that, as in every judicial case, all institutions in Macedonia respect the principles of the rule of law, including the presumption of innocence, and meet the very highest international standards throughout the process.
The UK is also concerned about the deterioration in political dialogue in the country and calls on political parties to do all they can to improve the situation.
