Court verdict against Alaa Abdel Fatah, Mohamed al-Baqer and Mohamed Oxygen: statement

The FCDO has issued a statement following a verdict by an Egyptian court yesterday against Alaa Abdel Fatah, Mohamed al-Baqer and Mohamed Oxygen.

This was published under the 2019 to 2022 Johnson Conservative government

A Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office spokesperson said:

The UK regrets an Egyptian court’s verdict yesterday against Alaa Abdel Fatah, Mohamed al-Baqer and Mohamed Oxygen. We do not consider this outcome consistent with recent positive steps to improve human rights, including the release of human rights strategy and end of the state of emergency.
