Stephen Crabb: It’s Wales’s time to shine on sporting stage
Countdown to crucial sporting weekend for Wales’s rugby and football teams begins
Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb has signalled that today is Wales’s moment to shine ahead of what could be a significant weekend of Welsh sporting celebrations (Saturday 10 October).
In the Rugby World Cup, Warren Gatland’s men will take on Australia aiming to claim the victory that would see them top their pool, and seal a favourable quarter-final draw.
Meanwhile, Chris Coleman’s football team have travelled to Bosnia-Herzegovina for their penultimate European Championship qualifier. Just one point will see their place at a first major tournament secured for the first time since 1958.
Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb said:
Saturday promises to be a fantastic occasion, not just for the Welshmen taking to the field in their national colours, but for their supporters all over the world.
We can be rightly proud of what these players have achieved. Welsh success at the highest level can do so much to inspire our younger generations to work hard to reach their goals.
I’m looking forward to seeing the nation join together this Saturday, to rally behind our national teams in what is set to be an exhilarating day of competition.
