New Wales Office ministerial team
Welsh Secretary: "We have a strong and experienced team who will deliver the very best for the people of Wales."
Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb today (14 May) welcomed the appointment of Lord Nick Bourne of Aberystwyth and the reappointment of Alun Cairns MP to the Wales Office ministerial team.
Mr Crabb also paid tribute to Baroness Jenny Randerson for her work at the Wales Office.
Lord Bourne joins the Wales Office as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State - a shared post with the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Alun Cairns returns as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State.
Mr Crabb said:
I am delighted to welcome Nick to the Wales Office and for Alun to return to our team.
Never before has the Wales Office had two ministers with so much experience of the National Assembly. They also both have an excellent track record in making sure that Wales’ voice is heard in Westminster and beyond.
This strong Wales Office team will take forward the government’s ambitious plan for Wales.
Alun Cairns said:
It’s great to be back in the Wales Office.
Wales has a bright future ahead of it and I’m determined to build on our achievements and maximise every opportunity for hardworking people right across our nation.
Lord Bourne said:
It’s a tremendous honour and privilege to join the Wales Office ministerial team.
We have a very busy and exciting timetable ahead and I look forward to playing my part in helping to make a Wales a more prosperous and successful nation.
Paying tribute to Baroness Randerson, Stephen Crabb added:
I would like to thank Baroness Randerson for her work at the Wales Office - she was a great colleague and minister.
Her passion for public service and commitment to making a Wales a better place to live and work were second to none.
