Student Protests in Bangladesh, July 2024: FCDO Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State statement
Following the escalating violence during the student protests about quota reforms in Bangladesh in July, Catherine West, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) gave a statement.

The UK Government is deeply concerned by the violent clashes during ongoing student protests in Bangladesh.
The UK supports fundamental freedoms and respect for human rights, including the right to protest and peaceful assembly.
We call on all sides to find a peaceful resolution and urge for an end to the violence.
