Support for Innovation Workshop
A series of one day workshops about government support for business R&D and innovation.

A series of one day workshops about government support for business R&D and innovation are being organised over the next few months for small and medium sized enterprises and their professional advisers.
Areas covered include:
- using the world-class level of R&D tax credit relief to invest more in your R&D
- planning for the reduced (10%) rate of corporation tax on profits attributable to patents
- using R&D grants available
- networking with your peers in R&D
- utilising government procurement opportunities for your R&D
- maximising the value of intellectual property for competitive advantage
- using design to add value and help your business grow
Each session will be led by a representative from the relevant delivery body, and will allow ample time for Q&As. The day is supported by manned stands.
The government hopes that one of the outcomes of the workshops will be to increase take-up of R&D tax credits by companies in sectors in which claims are low such as agri-food and also the energy and water industries. The government would also like to increase awareness that R&D tax credit claims can be made for design work where this involves R&D.
The workshops are organized by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
