Swire Welcomes Turkish Parliamentarians
Minister of State The Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP has welcomed a group of visiting Turkish Parliamentarians to Stormont House.
Minister of State for Northern Ireland The Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP has hosted a reception for a group of visiting Turkish Parliamentarians during their two day visit to Northern Ireland.
The visit has been organised in conjunction with Democratic Progress Institute (DPI), a group who aim to create an atmosphere whereby different parties share knowledge, ideas, concerns and suggestions facing the development of a democratic solution in Turkey.
The work of the DPI focuses on a combination of research and practical approaches, carried out in order to support and contribute to existing work in Turkey as well as extending to the wider region.
It aims to create an atmosphere whereby the different parties are able to meet with experts, draw on comparative studies and analyse various mechanisms used to achieve positive results, the work supports the development of a pluralistic arena consensus and ownership over work on key issues surrounding a democratic solution at both the political and the local level.
