Tax Administration and Maintenance Day set for 30 November 2021
The government has today (18 November) announced that there will be a Tax Administration and Maintenance day on 30 November 2021.
- A Tax Administration and Maintenance day (TAMD) will take place on 30 November 2021.
- Consultations for announcements made at Autumn Budget and Spending Review 2021, summaries of responses to recently closed consultations and technical information notices will be among documents published at TAMD.
- None of the announcements will require legislation in the Finance Bill.
On TAMD, a number of documents will be published, including consultations for announcements made at Autumn Budget and Spending Review 2021, summaries of responses to recently closed consultations and technical information notices.
None of the announcements will require legislation in the Finance Bill, and the day will follow a similar format to March 2021’s Tax Policies and Consultations Update.
Financial Secretary to the Treasury Lucy Frazer said:
Publishing policy updates on a separate day after the Budget helps increase the transparency, discipline and accessibility of tax policy-making for stakeholders.
This year’s updates will enhance the stability and effectiveness of the UK tax system, setting out our next steps on tax administration and policy development.
Today’s announcement follows the commitment the Chancellor made at Autumn Budget and Spending Review 2021 for there to be a day dedicated this Autumn to the administration and maintenance of the UK’s tax system.
The announcements will include updates on ongoing policy initiatives to modernise and improve the tax system and its administration.
Similar to TAMD, the government introduced its Tax Policies and Consultations Update in March 2021 to strengthen government policy-making and modernise the UK’s tax system.
